January Events
HELLO FROM THE HERITAGE DISTRICT
HD SOUTH is participating in a fun, new initiative launched by the Town of Gilbert called, “Hello From The Heritage District”. This program will provide visitors with the unique opportunity to send postcards sharing their experiences in downtown Gilbert! From now until January 6, museum guests will be able to fill out a postcard and place them in the special mailbox located near the museum entrance. At the end of the project, the Town of Gilbert will collect all the postcards and mail them. Be sure to fill out your postcard the next time you visit HD SOUTH and say, “Hello” from the Heritage District!
LIGHT SENSITIVE EXHIBIT
In Gallery 4 through January 11th, enjoy images created using traditional darkroom, historical, and alternative photographic processes and methods. As we have seen technology trends continue to drive digital photography and presentation, Light Sensitive highlights art from artists working in traditional and historical printing processes. Light Sensitive seeks to celebrate, promote, and reaffirm the art of handcrafted prints that uniquely belong to the tradition of the light sensitive creative processes. Gallery 4 admission is included in the price of museum admission.
GREETINGS FROM!
Until February 10, be sure to check out our newest exhibit featuring nearly 40 pulchritudinous postcards! Postcards have been connecting people since the late 1800s, offering a quick, economical, convenient, and enjoyable way to communicate. This display of postcards will take you on a journey across the country, and through the decades, showcasing everything from Florida's lovely beaches to a cabana holiday along the California Redwood Highway. Don't forget to check out the birthday, Easter, and holiday greetings included along the way! Exhibit admission is included in the price of museum admission.
