Gilbert Today: A Community Update (CHAMBER)
Join us for Gilbert Today: A Community Update—a unique opportunity to connect with fellow business leaders while learning how the Town of Gilbert is advancing programs that directly impact our families, workforce, and community well-being.
This special event will highlight three important initiatives:
Youth Engagement Officer Program – Discover how the Gilbert Police Department is fostering positive relationships with local youth to promote safety, mentorship, and long-term community trust.
About the Presenter:
Officer Emily King has served with the Gilbert Police Department for three and a half years and is the Youth Community Engagement Officer. She leads impactful programs like Aspire Academy and the Cadet Program, working closely with schools, community members, and town leadership to inspire future public servants. Known for being visible, approachable, and dedicated, Emily is a trusted role model for Gilbert’s youth. She also proudly recognizes two cadets attending today’s luncheon for their commitment to one day serve and protect our community.
Autism Awareness Initiative – Hear how the Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department is increasing awareness and enhancing emergency response services for individuals with autism—creating safer and more compassionate outcomes.
About the Presenter:
Chief Duggan recently completed his third year as the Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department’s Fire Chief. He began his career with the GFRD in 1999 as a Firefighter Paramedic. During his time at the fire department, he promoted through each of the ranks and served as a Captain for 12 years and an Assistant Fire Chief for 8 years. He also worked at the Casa Grande Fire Department as a Firefighter Paramedic before the GFRD and has nearly 32 years of public safety experience.
Dementia Friendly Gilbert – Learn how the Town is working to make Gilbert a more inclusive and supportive community for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.
About the Presenter:
Councilmember Chuck Bongiovanni, a long-time Gilbert resident and nationally recognized leader in senior care, brings decades of expertise to the town’s Dementia Friendly efforts. After earning degrees in Psychology, Social Work, and an MBA from ASU, he founded Care Patrol in 1995, growing it into a national franchise, and later launched Majestic Residences, now operating across the U.S. and in the Dominican Republic. A sought-after speaker and dedicated community advocate, Chuck’s leadership has greatly advanced dementia awareness and support in Gilbert.
