Women in Philanthropy Serves Up Dink-tober Pickleball Tournament to Benefit Valley Kids
Family-friendly fundraiser at Electric Pickle in Tempe on Saturday, Oct. 10 welcomes players of every level, spectators and kids.
Women in Philanthropy, a Phoenix-based organization that helps local women learn to fundraise, build friendships and give back, will host its first Dink-tober Pickleball Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. at Electric Pickle, 8688 S. Emerald Drive in Tempe. Proceeds benefit For the Kids Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting children in the Phoenix community.
The tournament is open to solo players, doubles teams, spectators and kids. Players who register on their own will be matched with a partner, and no experience is required. Every ticket includes buffet access, one drink ticket, and five raffle tickets.
"Pickleball has a way of bringing people together, and that's exactly what we wanted for this event," said Maddie Lydon, Vice President of Women in Philanthropy and President of For the Kids Foundation. "Whether you've never picked up a paddle or you play every weekend, every ticket helps kids right here in the Valley."
The event is co-organized by Gilbert Chamber member Meghann Hanvey, founder of Aurora Talent Lab and Vice President of Membership for Women in Philanthropy.
Local businesses can support the event through sponsorships ranging from $250 to $10,000, with benefits that include court naming, on-site banners, and social media recognition. Businesses may also donate items to be included in the raffle and/or the welcome bags for the attendees. Tickets and sponsorships are available at zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/dink-tober-pickleball-tournament.
