The Tours for Teachers, After Hours program
The Tours for Teachers, After Hours program, led by the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce Foundation, bridges the gap between classrooms and the local economy by providing educators with firsthand insights into workforce needs and current employability trends. Tours for Teachers, After Hours is designed for educators across all grade levels and school types in Gilbert—public, charter, or private.
During these tours, participants embark on behind-the-scenes tours of local businesses, featuring presentations, facility tours, and interactive Q&A sessions. These experiences focus on workforce readiness, providing educators with in-depth knowledge of industry requirements, career paths, and growth opportunities. They also highlight potential educational partnerships such as field trips, guest speakers, internships, and mentorships. Business leaders share personal career insights and advice, enriching educators with practical perspectives to relay to their students.
By fostering direct connections between education and local industries, Tours for Teachers, After Hours empowers educators to better equip students for future careers, making it a vital asset to the Gilbert community’s educational landscape.
Last year’s tours included the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences, Arizona State University – Polytechnic Campus, Northrop-Grumman, University of Arizona Nursing, Arizona Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center, and Arizona State University’s Dreamscape.
