Tim Troy - Co-Owner with Jeremy Rutkowski
Universal Paper Shredding
How many years have you been in business?
5 years
What product or service do you offer?
Onsite paper shredding, document scanning, secure document storage, hard drive destruction
What makes your business different, competitive, or unique?
We strive to have the best Service, Security, and Pricing in the document management industry. We do not lock clients into long-term contracts. We do not charge any hidden fees. The price we quote is the price our customers pay.
What is the nicest thing a customer has ever said about your business?
XOne of our recent reviews that we very much appreciated was---- We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company! Our experience with Universal Paper Shredding today from the front office staff, the owner, and the service technician Jeremy far exceeded our expectations! They were all very courteous, professional, and prompt. And, their fees were very reasonable.
How has your business found value in your membership with the Gilbert Chamber?
While we do get business from the chamber of commerce, I believe the best value comes in networking and meeting other local business owners. We always know where to go when we need services for our business. We know who we can easily trust when shopping for our own, insurance, printing needs, marketing etc. Making friends along the way that can help guide us and give advice.
What Motivates you professionally?
I love being self-employed and growing a business. I have always followed the philosophy of "If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life!"
What do you consider to be your greatest success?
Leaving corporate America and stepping into the unknown to start my own business was a huge leap. It was challenging to walk away from the stability of a job, but with the unwavering support of my now wife, I took the plunge. She helped me realize that working hard for someone else can’t compare to the fulfillment of building something of your own and doing what you truly love. It is a big step to leave corporate America and quit a job while starting something with uncertainty. My now wife, was an amazing supporter that pushed me to start my own business and realize that working hard.
Who do you look up to or admire?
I deeply admire my father, Joe Troy. From an early age, he instilled in me the value of hard work and dedication. As the owner of a successful soda bottling and distribution company in Chicago, he balanced the demands of his business with being a supportive and loving father. His perseverance and commitment continue to inspire me, even after his passing in 2011.
