Meet Nikkel Nielsen of Rock Steady Boxing

Nikkel Nielsen, Owner
Rock Steady Boxing

How many years have you been in business? 6 years.

What product or service do you offer?
Rock Steady Boxing Gilbert provides non-contact boxing fitness classes to individuals with Parkinson's disease. Boxing helps by moving your body in all planes of motion while changing the routine through the workout. We also work on strength, balance, and activities of daily living, while having fun and enjoying camaraderie. Recent studies suggest that forced intense exercise may be "neuroprotective" actually working to delay the progression of symptoms.

What makes your business different, competitive, or unique?
Our business is different than others because we exclusively provide boxing classes for Parkinson's individuals.

What is the nicest thing a customer has ever said about your business?
That it has given them a sense of hope, purpose, and belonging.

How has your business found value in your membership with the Gilbert Chamber?
We are happy to be part of the community and participate in various events held throughout the year.

What motivates you professionally?
I am motivated to help people with Parkinson's disease fight back and delay the progression. My mom was diagnosed with PD almost 10 years ago, and I know how much this program means to her. I want to give others that same sense of hope, community, and accomplishment that I have seen her realize.

What do you consider to be your greatest success?
I believe that my family is first and foremost my biggest success. I have two sons that I look forward to seeing what their futures hold. Second, I believe the many lives that have touched mine and that I have been able to touch in the past six years has so much undefinable value.

Who do you look up to or admire?
There are several ladies involved with our community that I admire and helped put me on the path to become active in the Chamber. One is Julia Macaluso and the other is Mindy Jones. They are both admirable ladies that give back big here in the community and show what it means to run a successful business.

When you’re not working, where in Gilbert do you spend your time?
Much of my time is spent at home in Gilbert or running my kids to activities. I also enjoy the plethora of restaurants and shopping we have available.
