Meet Kathy Tilque with Gilbert Advocacy Center Foundation
Kathy Tilque - President
Gilbert Advocacy Center FoundationHow many years have you been in business?
Less than one year - First year
What product or service do you offer?
We mobilize community resources and partnerships to support Gilbert's Advocacy Center in providing compassionate, streamlined services to victims of violence.
What makes your business different, competitive, or unique?
No victim of violence should ever feel alone. We are committed to creating a safe space for victims in Gilbert to receive the help they need without revictimization. We are calling for our community to get involved, help us raise the funds to provide the services needed to help that victim feel safe in reporting the crime, in escaping the abuser and beginning a new life for them and their families!
What is the nicest thing a customer has ever said about your business?
The number of residents and business owners who have expressed how thankful they are for the dedication the Town of Gilbert has placed on assisting victims of violence has been so humbling and encouraging. I know they are eager to assist in their own ways once we get close to opening the doors.
How has your business found value in your membership with the Gilbert Chamber?
While the Foundation is new, my decades of experience with the Chamber has not only provided me with critical community contacts but also life-long friends who are committed to helping others.
What Motivates you professionally?
Serving in leadership positions that allow me to help create change and growth within our community and industry while helping others be successful.
What do you consider to be your greatest success?
It truly takes a village and when I look at the amazing community we have, I'm proud of the leadership roles I was able to fill in community development from 1991 through today. Serving as one of the founders of Gilbert Leadership, the East Valley Chambers of Commerce Alliance, Positive Paths, saving the water tower, Vice Mayor/Town Council member, and now the Gilbert Advocacy Center Foundation come mind now that I have "retired."
Who do you look up to or admire?
I've been blessed with so many mentors in my life, it is hard to choose one. I'd say my Grandmother, Helen O'Connor, for always making every one of her 12 children, 37 grandchildren, plus great grandchildren all feel like the most important person. She was always kind and never had a harsh word or thought of others. I hope to live up to those values every day.
When you're not working where, in Gilbert, do you spend your time?
I'm learning to paint again, traveling the world, spending quiet time/hiking at our cabin and golf. Plus I love to read and spend time with our kids and grandchildren. I'm thankful everyday for my time with my husband, Greg.
