Meet Jessica Kasten, Head of School, Fusion Academy Gilbert

Jessica Kasten - Head of School
Fusion Academy Gilbert

How many years have you been in business?

10+ Years

What product or service do you offer?
Fusion Academy is the most personalized private school! As a fully accredited middle and high school, Fusion offers tutoring, part-time and full-time instruction for grades 6-12. There are over 250+ courses to choose from, customized scheduling options and opportunities to socialize on/off campus!

What makes your business different, competitive, or unique?

All of our classes are offered 1:1 - One Student, One Teacher. We are intentionally small so that we can personalize your child's academic experience with consistent communication, quality staff and beautiful facilities.

What is the nicest thing a customer has ever said about your business?

The biggest compliment to me is when a family feels seen and heard during our enrollment process. Often times a family is coming to Fusion because something else isn't working. Getting to listen to their story - what's worked and what hasn't worked, where the strengths and struggles lie and then helping a family strategize next steps is very rewarding. And then to be complimented on our ability to listen, plan and execute a personalized education for their most precious asset (the child) is just the best!

How has your business found value in your membership with the Gilbert Chamber?

We've enjoyed connecting with other local professionals - learning about their services and networking to build our brand awareness in this new market!

What Motivates you professionally?

I'm motivated by helping students achieve their goals - whether that be getting a better grade in a course, passing a tricky subject or getting into their first pick college. Many times students don't even know what goals they have for themselves, so getting to know them, connecting them with the best teachers and watching them grow is so motivating!

What do you consider to be your greatest success?
In November of 2019 I helped open Fusion Scottsdale with 3 students and 5 staff members. Then COVID mandates shut the world down a few months later, but we kept going and growing virtually. Today the Scottsdale campus is one of the largest in the company with over 100 full-time students and 40 staff! The difficult work it takes to open and grow a school in a new market is challenging, but the number of students we've impacted in just those first five years is incredible! Countless stories, countless successes, countless memorable moments that will provide the fuel for us now opening our Gilbert location.

Who do you look up to or admire?

My parents hold most of my admiration. They had me when they were young and persevered through countless obstacles to raise my brother and I in a loving, supportive home. They both went on to get their degrees in education and lead schools now, as well. Their prioritization of family first has always been inspiring to me, especially as I balance being a working mom and wife.

When you're not working, where in Gilbert do you spend your time?
My family and I live near Downtown Gilbert, so you can easily find us hanging around there for a quick bite to eat or ice cream!
