Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center Celebrates 20 Years of Serving the East Valley
GILBERT, Ariz. (June 9, 2026) – Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center commemorated its 20th anniversary with a special celebration on June 5, reflecting on the hospital's remarkable journey with local leaders and community partners.
"Today we mark two decades of service, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of the Gilbert and East Valley communities," said Mario Garner, President of Dignity Health East Valley. "When Mercy Gilbert first opened its doors in 2006, it was with a promise to deliver exceptional healthcare with compassion and a commitment to our community. That promise continues today.”
At present, Mercy Gilbert’s capacity has expanded to 219 beds, up from the 88 it started with. In addition,the hospital now has 250 volunteers and boasts more than 1,500 employees, a large increase from the 550 hired in 2006.
"As Gilbert has grown into one of the Valley’s largest and premiere destinations, Mercy Gilbert has, too. We are proud to have expanded our services over the past 20 years to bring cutting-edge medical services for the East Valley’s growing population,” Garner added. “The dedication, expertise, tireless hours, and boundless compassion displayed by our staff underscore the very meaning of 'mercy' in our name."
During the celebration, a special proclamation from the Town of Gilbert was presented by Gilbert Mayor Scott Anderson, highlighting Mercy Gilbert’s contributions to the community
