Dignity Health East Valley Hospitals Nationally Recognized

Dignity Health Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers have been nationally recognized for its dedication to patient safety and specialty care in two recent rankings.

The two hospitals earned “A” ratings by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog which evaluates how well hospitals across the country perform in more than 30 patient safety performance measures, in its fall 2024 survey.

“Patient safety is and has always been a top priority for our hospitals, and we are very proud of our team members who remain committed to the health and wellbeing of our patients,” said Mark Slyter, president and CEO of Dignity Health East Valley.

In addition to Leapfrog’s patient safety recognition, Mercy Gilbert has also been nationally commended as a leader in cardiology by Healthgrades, a company that provides information about hospital and health care providers to help patients make decisions regarding their care.

Healthgrades ranked Mercy Gilbert in the top 10 percent of the nation’s hospitals for cardiology, and awarded the hospital a five-star recognition for its treatment of heart failure in its 2025 list. Heart failure occurs when the heart struggles to produce enough blood and oxygen to support the body’s other organs. Nearly 6.7 million Americans ages 20 and older are living with heart failure.

“As the East Valley continues to grow, so does the importance of access to expert cardiology care,” added Slyter. “This achievement is a reflection of our team’s commitment to caring for the heart of our community and providing expert cardiology care that is close to home. We look forward to the continued growth of our cardiology program in the East Valley.”

Chandler Regional was also honored by Healthgrades for its dedication to critical care as a five-star recipient for the treatment of sepsis and respiratory failure in the 2025 list.
