Gilbert, AZ : Gilbert portrait artist Andria Meixner of Andria May Photography is matching her love for completion, community and giving back with her professional skills into a "March Madness" style competition for a cause. Partnering with Dogtopia of Gilbert, Meixner has launched Pooch Playoffs, an online bracket-style fundraiser aimed at raising $1,600 for the Dogtopia Foundation.

The foundation supports life-changing initiatives, such as training service dogs for veterans, providing therapy dogs for children, and employment opportunities for autistic adults.

“I joined the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce in 2025 and immediately connected with Tina Edenfield at Dogtopia,” says Meixner. “Her passion for dogs lit a fire for this collaboration. We wanted to create something that brings the community together while honoring the dogs who provide us with unconditional love.”

How to participate: The final portrait sessions are scheduled for March 20th-21st at a local business in Gilbert, AZ. For a $135 entry fee — $100 of which goes directly to the charity—participants receive:

A professional boutique portrait session and planning consultation.

A "Wag Bag" filled with goodies from local sponsors.

A digital image to rally community votes and a boutique gift featuring their favorite portrait.

A BIPS (Boutique In-Person Sales presentation) to view images and the option to create custom heirloom art.

Community Support: The event is backed by several Gilbert Chamber Businesses and other businesses, including:

“We recognize the powerful role pets play in bringing comfort and healing to seniors and veterans,” says McChellin Baker of Verena Senior Living. Dr. Nicole Uomoto of Renewed Strength Chiropractic adds, “Wellness extends to the whole family, four-legged members included.”

The Competition: On March 29th, 16 dogs will begin several rounds of voting. It will be posted on social media as well as the event page listed below. The "Final Four" will receive prizes from local sponsors, and the Gilbert champion will advance to a national competition.
