Overview
Rock Steady Boxing is an evidence based non-contact boxing program designed to help people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) improve their physical fitness, balance, agility, and overall quality of life. As a Rock Steady Boxing Coach, you will lead and inspire individuals with PD through tailored boxing workouts aimed at improving motor skills, coordination, strength, and confidence.
We are looking for a passionate and energetic coach who can create a positive and motivating environment, while ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.
Duties
- Program Instruction: Lead group boxing classes for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, following the Rock Steady Boxing curriculum. Incorporate boxing techniques, strength training, cardio, and agility drills into each session.
- Adapt Exercises: Customize workouts to suit participants’ individual fitness levels and physical limitations, ensuring that all exercises are safe and effective.
- Demonstrate Proper Form: Teach and demonstrate correct boxing techniques (such as punches, stances, and footwork) while providing constructive feedback to participants.
- Motivate and Inspire: Foster a supportive and encouraging environment that helps participants stay motivated and engaged in their workouts. Provide emotional support and celebrate individual progress.
- Monitor Participant Progress: Track the physical and cognitive progress of participants over time, providing reports or updates to participants, their families, or healthcare providers as necessary.
- Ensure Safety: Create a safe training environment by setting up equipment properly, spotting participants during exercises, and addressing any medical concerns or emergencies.
- Collaborate with Team: Work with fellow coaches, trainers, and healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive and cohesive approach to participants’ wellness.
Requirements
- Pre-requisites: NASM or ACE certified fitness professional or equivalent, or a Medical professional license, or a degree in an exercise science-related field of study.
- Certifications: Willingness to become a Certified Rock Steady Boxing Coach. CPR/First Aid certification required.
- Training: Online and in-person training.
Experience: Prior experience working in personal and group fitness is recommended.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 per class. Negotiable based on experience.
Schedule: 2-3 classes per week. Must be available for Tues. & Thurs. evening (6:30-8:00pm). Also for occasional morning classes on Mon., Wed., and Fri. (9:45-12:15).
