Position Overview
The Membership Engagement & Retention Specialist plays a vital role in helping local businesses thrive by connecting them to the people, programs, and opportunities that drive success. As a key member of the Chamber's Business Development team, this individual serves as a trusted resource and relationship-builder, ensuring members maximize the value of their Chamber investment and remain actively engaged in the business community.
 
Serving as the primary relationship manager for Entrepreneur, Business, and Champion-level members, this position works closely with business owners, executives, community leaders, and volunteers to strengthen connections, foster engagement, and support long-term member success. The Specialist collaborates with the Business Development Director to advance membership growth, retention initiatives, networking programs, sponsorship opportunities, and strategic engagement efforts.

Compensation
Target Earnings: $45,000–$55,000 annually
(Base salary plus performance-based incentive compensation)


Compensation includes:

  • Competitive base salary
  • Monthly incentive opportunities tied to membership retention, engagement, and organizational goals
  • Mileage reimbursement for approved business travel
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Business Development Director

Work Location: Gilbert, AZ (In-office and community-based; remote work is not available for this position.)

Key Responsibilities
  • Strengthen member relationships and drive membership retention and engagement.
  • Connect members to Chamber and Foundation programs, events, resources, and business opportunities.
  • Coordinate Chamber Champions, Referral Teams, and Accelerator program activities.
  • Support membership outreach, sponsorship efforts, and business development initiatives.
  • Track engagement metrics and maintain accurate member records.
  • Represent the Chamber at events and serve as a community ambassador.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of experience in account management, membership services, business development support, nonprofit administration, banking, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to attend occasional early morning, evening, and community events. 
Preferred Experience
  • Chambers of commerce, associations, nonprofit organizations, or membership-based organizations.
  • Customer success, relationship management, account management, or member engagement.
  • Volunteer engagement or program coordination.
  • Networking, event participation, and community outreach.
  • Familiarity with ChamberMaster.
