About the Business Relief Grant program:
The Gilbert Business Relief Grant is focused on assisting for-profit businesses and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in operation prior to March 11, 2020. Qualifying businesses that experienced revenue declines of at least 15% because of COVID-19 will be eligible to receive a grant of up to $35,000 based on their demonstrated positive financial impact to the Town of Gilbert.
Who can qualify for a grant?
Gilbert for-profit businesses and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that meet the following criteria:
- In operation prior to March 11, 2020 (Date of the Governor's Emergency Declaration)
- Did not generate more than $5 million in gross revenues at their Gilbert location(s) between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019
- Does not have more than three (3) physical locations in the Town of Gilbert
- Has not received any other COVID related funding from the Town of Gilbert
- Experienced gross revenue declines of at least 15% because of COVID-19 from March 2020 - August 2020 as compared to March 2019 - August 2019
- If the business began operations after August 31, 2019, the applicant must show that the average monthly gross revenue for the operating months prior to March 2020 declined by at least 15% as compared to the average monthly gross revenue from March 2020 - August 2020
- Is a licensed business with the Town of Gilbert, or will bring the business into compliance by obtaining a Gilbert Business License prior to applying
- Shall not relocate out of Gilbert prior to June 30, 2020
Eligible business types include sole proprietorships, corporations, non-profits, independent contractors, partnerships, and LLCs.
What can grant funds be spent on?
Grant funds could be utilized for legitimate business expenses including but not limited to rent, utilities, wages, working capital, or personal protective equipment (PPE).
