Midwest Food Bank COVID-19 Response

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.    - Joshua 1:9

These are unusual times we're living through. Information seems to be constantly changing. One thing we all can rely upon: the steadfast love of our LORD.

We at Midwest Food Bank see this time as an opportunity to live out our mission of sharing the love of Christ through alleviating food insecurity and providing disaster relief. With many businesses and institutions suspending operations, our partner agencies have a greater than normal need for food. Food procurement and distribution efforts continue across all MFB locations. We will remain open and operational unless federal or state regulations change.

Midwest Food Bank Precautionary Actions

Some precautions and changes our normal operations include:

• Postponing all open food repackaging and Tender Mercies hand packaging.

• Limiting volunteer group size.

• Following sanitary guidelines recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

• Asking those who are ill or susceptible to refrain from volunteering.

Disaster Relief Activity

MFB has already received and filled Disaster Relief requests for our partner, The Salvation Army. Semi-loads of family food boxes have been shipped and more have been requested. We plan to continue to aggressively pursue donated food loads. MFB will distribute Tender Mercies and increase production to meet demands.
