What makes your business different, competitive, or unique?
An immersive cocktail bar dedicated to the art of escapism! Our cocktails are meticulously curated to achieve perfect balance, offering layers of flavor and depth that transport your taste buds to new realms. Each cocktail is a carefully crafted masterpiece, with every ingredient playing a vital role in the symphony of flavors. While words can hint at the concept, true understanding only dawns when you step into UnderTow and embark on this extraordinary sensory journey.

What is the nicest thing a customer has ever said about your business?
The most heartwarming compliment we've received from a guest is their appreciation for our unwavering attention to detail. From the moment you cross our threshold until you take your first step outside, you're transported to the belly of a Clipper Ship. The creaking of the wood beneath your feet, the mesmerizing port hole tables that offer glimpses of the vast and breathtaking ocean, and the awe-inspiring thunderstorm that sweeps through every hour on the half-hour – all these elements contribute to an unforgettable experience. But it doesn't stop there; our dedication to hospitality and the meticulous care that goes into both our service and cocktails is truly unparalleled.

How has your business found value in your membership with the Gilbert Chamber?
Fostering a community of like-minded professionals who share a common vision, support one another, and collaborate seamlessly to achieve our collective goals is an invaluable asset. This network serves as the foundation upon which we build our success, enabling us to leverage each other's strengths and expertise to reach new heights.

What motivates you professionally?
My professional motivation lies in the relentless pursuit of providing a top-tier working environment for my staff. I firmly believe that the key to a thriving business is prioritizing the well-being and satisfaction of your team. When your staff feels valued and appreciated, it creates a fertile ground for success. A harmonious and content workforce not only offers the finest hospitality to our guests but also willingly goes the extra mile for the benefit of both the company and the guests. In essence, my staff is not only my motivation but also my compass for ensuring they experience the highest quality of life and work in their journey with us.

What do you consider to be your greatest success?
Undoubtedly, our most treasured success lies in the loyal community of regular patrons we've cultivated. These individuals are the embodiment of unwavering support. They not only grace us with their regular presence but also extend their wholehearted support to our dedicated staff. Some have journeyed from distant states solely to connect with specific staff members, while others contribute fresh garden ingredients to assist our bartenders in their cocktail creations for their individual competitions. A few have even welcomed us into their lives by extending dinner invitations. It's not merely escapism we offer; it's a genuine home away from home we've built, where bonds are forged, and relationships flourish.

Who do you look up to or admire?
Narrowing down my list of role models is a challenging task because I hold all of my superiors in high regard. They've each shared their unique insights and knowledge with me. However, if I had to pick, Mat Snapp and Cortnie Cozeck stand out. Their wealth of wisdom and profound understanding of the industry have been instrumental in shaping me into the General Manager I am today. I owe my current position to their guidance, and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. What truly sets them apart is their ability to communicate effectively with the business and to coach each individual with a personalized touch. Their straightforward, no-nonsense approach is a refreshing perspective in a world often filled with complexity.

When you're not working, where in Gilbert do you spend your time?
I find great pleasure in exploring Downtown Gilbert. I relish the diversity of businesses in one compact area. For a quick caffeine fix & delectable sandwiches, my top choice is The Coffee Shop. Coming from NYC, I have a deep appreciation for quality pizza pie, Fire & Brimstone steals the show with their half Buffalo Chicken and half Baked Potato pie. Last but certainly not least, I'm a big fan of the new Buck & Rider! Given my background as a Certified Sake Professional from my life before UnderTow, I can attest to the quality of sake they offer, which pairs magnificently with their seafood offerings. Oysters, caviar, sushi, and sake – it's an unparalleled combination for a culinary aficionado!
