Free COVID-19 Vaccine Event Offered to Airport Employees and Their Families

Phoenix, AZ – As the largest economic engine in the state of Arizona, the Phoenix Airport system consisting of Phoenix Sky Harbor, Phoenix Deer Valley, and Phoenix Goodyear airports employs more than 33,000 people. In order to ensure that employees have access to the COVID-19 vaccine, a free vaccination event is being held at the 44th Street PHX Sky Train® Station through April 29.
Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego kicked off the four-day event on Monday, April 26.
“Airport employees are part of our critical infrastructure,” said Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. “?It is clear that protecting public health is also the fastest way to economic recovery. The vaccine?s delivered here at Sky Harbor will help our employees, and those that they come into contact with, be protected from the COVID-19 virus.”

The event is providing the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine free of charge to all airport badge holders. Any airport contractor or volunteer who holds a Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport badge or credential is eligible. In addition, badged employees and contractors at Phoenix Deer Valley and Phoenix Goodyear Airports are eligible. This includes but is not limited to; employees of airlines, shops and restaurants, ground transportation providers, other service providers, construction companies, and more. Employees are encouraged to schedule an appointment at the end of their shift.
“Phoenix Sky Harbor is one of our city’s largest revenue generators that has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, said District 1 Phoenix City Councilmember Ann O’Brien. “Making the COVID-19 vaccine available to all airport workers, including the staff of Phoenix Deer Valley Airport, the busiest general aviation airport in the nation, is a big step toward normalcy.”

The event is also open to any family member or dependent of airport employees. Appointments for employees and their families are recommended, though walk-ups will be available.
“Our Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the largest hub of jobs in the state and its success rests on the hard work and dedication of thousands of workers,” said District 5 Phoenix City Councilmember Betty Guardado. “They have felt the effects of this pandemic firsthand, many being laid-off, furloughed, or even fired as air travel came to a virtual halt. But today, thanks to the national vaccine rollout, more Americans are traveling and our airport is seeing a steady increase in flights. Now is the time to ensure that all our airport employees have access to the vaccine, to protect themselves, their families, coworkers, and our airport guests. I am honored to be here today, and I am thankful to the leadership of Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and the efforts of our partners at Maricopa County. It’s time for all of us to do our part, roll up our sleeve, and get our shot!”

This vaccine dispensing event is a collaborative effort between the city of Phoenix, Maricopa County, Curative, and employers at Phoenix Sky Harbor, Phoenix Deer Valley, and Phoenix Goodyear airports.

“It’s an honor for Curative to deliver vaccination deployment for the Phoenix Sky Harbor. This is a significant moment in history, and we are ready to bring these life-saving vaccines to people who need them,” said Isaac Turner, CIO, and co-founder of Curative. “Curative has disrupted the traditional healthcare delivery system by rapidly scaling COVID-19 testing at thousands of sites across the country in a matter of months and administering the flu vaccine – now, we are eager to put our proven model to work for the COVID-19 vaccine. We’re building on everything we learned over the last year at Curative and we look forward to making healthcare more accessible to all: both now and in the future as we evolve as a company.”

Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Phoenix Aviation Department has been committed to ensuring that its facilities are clean, safe, and welcoming for airport employees and customers. To learn more about the airport system’s efforts, visit
